Maamanithan is a Tamil action-oriented movie directed by Seenu Ramasamy of Dharmadurai fame. The movie actors Gayathri and Vijay Sethupathi are in the main lead roles. The music for the movie is composed by Karthik Raja, Yuvan Shankar Raja, and Ilayaraja while cinematography and editing were handled by M. Sukumar and A. Sreekar Prasad, respectively. The film has to produced by Shan Sutharasan and Yuvan Shankar Raja. The movie marked the first time collaboration between Ilaiyaraaja and his sons Yuvan Shankar Raja and Karthik Raja working together.

The story of this desperate father travels to many places like Kerala and Kasi, and what happens to this family of four forms the story of Maamaniithan. The trailer also gave away the fact that actor Vijay Sethupathi plays a character called Radhakrishnan and actress Gayathrie plays his wife. However, Radhakrishnan is looking to pursue another career in order to earn more income with the intention of educating his children better. The trailer does not give away the details of the new profession but shows that invariably it gets Radhakrishnan into a lot of trouble.
