Prassthanam is director Deva Katta’s adaptation of his 2010 Telugu directorial with the same name. The story revolves around MLA Baldev Pratap Singh (Sanjay S Dutt) and the complex relationships within his family in a highly volatile political setup. Together, can they defeat their enemies or perish within their own battles. Sanjay Dutt is impressive in his role as a determined leader and a vulnerable father. But it’s Ali Fazal who makes the most of his well-written character. He exudes an easy charm as a young political leader and a responsible elder brother.
Satyajeet Dubey is slightly over-the-top but believable. Chunky Pandey appears as the only formidable opponent in the film. The dialogues by Farhad Samji are often too filmy and funny and they don’t always fit into the moment. Prassthanam manages to hold your interest in parts due to its fast-paced developments. But it also suffers from the usual pitfalls like unwanted songs and just too many conflicts, happening all at once.
